In late 2019, a travelling exhibition journeyed across Scotland, visiting 12 diverse locations—spanning cities, towns, islands, and rural areas—from October to December. Its purpose was to engage with local communities, gathering their thoughts, ideas, and aspirations for the future of housing in Scotland by 2040.
As part of the initiative, the Scottish Government commissioned Journey Productions to produce 12 short films, each spotlighting local voices and perspectives from the visited locations. These films, approximately three minutes long, were tailored to capture the essence of each community. Shorter edits were also produced to suit social media platforms, ensuring broader accessibility and engagement.
The project’s schedule was ambitious, with tight turnarounds at each stop. Typically, filming, including aerial shots and photographic portraits of interviewees, was completed within a single day. The films were edited and finalised on-site, enabling them to be screened at the next location, creating a dynamic and immediate connection between communities throughout the tour.
